Everton are hopeful of signing long-term target Dwight McNeil after opening talks to sign the Burnley winger.
McNeil has had no shortage of Premier League interest following the Clarets' relegation to the Championship and Sportsmail understands he was wanted by the Toffees when Rafael Benitez was in charge.
The 22-year-old has two years left on his contract at Turf Moor and Burnley also have the option to extend his deal until 2025.
Butnegotiations are now ongoing between Burnley and Everton to reach an agreement, with the Merseyside club waiting to see if the Clarets will agree to the fee being paid in instalments.
