Dimitri Payet fails to inspire Marseille on Ligue 1 return as Yann Jouffre nets late free-kick winner for Metz

Dimitri Payet's return to Ligue 1 ended in disappointment as Marseille were stunned by relegation-threatened Metz on Friday night.

The France forward, who pushed through a £25million move from West Ham last month, came off the bench in the 54th minute at at Saint Symphorien stadium.

But Payet was left frustrated as Yann Jouffre scored an 82nd minute free-kick to lift the hosts up to 15th place in the table.
