The away end returned a verdict after only three minutes. In the toughest week of his second spell at West Ham, David Moyes had taken a risk and chastised his side’s supporters for booing them off after a 2-0 home loss to Brighton. They might have argued they had a case, having seen three defeats from three without a goal scored to begin a season that was meant to be another step forward.
But Moyes’ credit in the bank stretches a long way, and deservedly so after a European semi-final and two top-seven finishes.
