West Bromwich Albion have appealed against the red card given to defender Darnell Furlong during Saturday's 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers.
The 29-year-old was sent off by referee Adam Herczeg in first-half stoppage time for elbowing Koki Saito and is facing a potential three-game ban.
But Albion submitted a claim of wrongful dismissal to the Football Association on Monday in the hope the red card and suspension will be overturned.
Furlong was shown a straight red following a coming together with Saito as the pair challenged for a high ball just inside the Baggies' half moments after Adam Armstrong had given Tony Mowbray's side the lead.
