Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion are set to go head-to-head for the signature of Lille midfielder Ibrahim Amadou.
The Cameroonian is valued at £18 million by the French club, although it is believed Palace have lodged an initial offer of £16 million.
However, because this fails to meet Lille’s valuation, West Brom believe they can beat the Eagles' to the signing of the 24-year-old.
Amadou is adept at playing at both centre-half and as a holding midfielder.
As reported by talkSPORT on Tuesday, Alan Pardew is considering ending Grzegorz Krychowiak’s loan and would need defensive cover in his bid to steer the Baggies’ clear of the relegation zone.
