Valerien Ismael has left his position as West Bromwich Albion boss just eight months into a four-year contract.
The Frenchman had lost the support of key members of the squad and back-to-back defeats by Preston and Millwall last week have proved decisive. His assistant Adam Murray has also departed The Hawthorns.
Albion paid Ismael’s former club Barnsley £2million in compensation to appoint him last June yet despite positive early results, some players are believed to have had misgivings from an early stage about his approach, methods and style of play.
Ismael’s uncompromising manner also led to disagreements with senior players including England goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, forward Jordan Hugill and midfielder Robert Snodgrass.
