Tony Pulis has left Middlesbrough after narrowly missing out on a place in the Championship play-offs.
The former West Brom boss parted company with the club after having dinner with chairman Steve Gibson in London on Wednesday.
First team coach Jonathan Woodgate is expected to take over.
Boro missed out on a chance to secure promotion back to the Premier League by a single point to Derby, who face Aston Villa in the showpiece Wembley final next weekend.
Pulis was appointed on Boxing Day in 2017 and took the club to the play-offs last year, where they were beaten by Villa in the semi-finals.
