Tony Pulis confirms Birmingham approach for Craig Gardner and sweats over availability of Allan Nyom ahead of Derby clash

Tony Pulis has confirmed an approach from Birmingham for midfielder Craig Gardner and is playing a waiting game on Allan Nyom ahead of the FA Cup tie against Derby.

Birmingham have enquired about taking Gardner on loan until the end of the season but Pulis is reluctant to let the 30-year-old leave.

The West Brom boss is hopeful of having Nyom back for selection after the defender travelled to France to explain his reasons for not wanting to play for Cameroon during the Africa Cup of Nations.

Cameroon subsequently did not pick Nyom but West Brom are waiting on official ratification to avoid being penalised by FIFA and may have to wait until the hours before kick-off in Saturday’s 3pm game against Derby.
