THE first competitive European fixture ever to be played at The Hawthorns saw Albion finish off the job against DOS Utrecht in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup.

After the 1-1 draw in Holland, the Throstles were ruthless on their own patch and the Dutch side were put to the sword in convincing style, winning 5-2.

Tony Brown registered what remains Albion’s only European hat-trick, John Kaye and Clive Clark rounding off the night.
