Mick McCarthy could leave Ipswich Town as Reading and Sheffield Wednesday show interest and with no sign of new contract being sorted

Mick McCarthy's future at Ipswich is uncertain with the manager yet to sign a contract extension and clubs monitoring his situation.

Reading are understood to have McCarthy in mind should Jaap Stam be dismissed, having admired the 59-year-old's work at Portman Road.

McCarthy manages one of the Championship's smallest budgets yet consistently keeps Ipswich away from danger and this season the team are 13th, six points off the play-off places.
