Tony Pulis has told Arsenal that West Bromwich’s response to any bid for Jonny Evans will be dependent on the club first finding a replacement.
Arsene Wenger has looked at the Northern Ireland international as a possible solution to his centre-back crisis but is yet to make a bid.
Evans was outstanding against Crystal Palace in the opening day 1-0 victory, keeping Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend quiet from his position at left-back.
Pulis is adamant he does not want to lose the 28-year-old but matters may be out of his hands should Arsenal launch a concerted effort for his signature.
