The flowers laid at the Hawthorns for Father’s Day tell the story of West Bromwich Albion’s place in the community to which it truly belongs.
Walk through the Jeff Astle Gates, past the Tony ‘Bomber’ Brown statue and you will find them — a sea of blue and white bunches placed in the memorial garden near the Smethwick End, in acts of solemn remembrance for Steve, Ronald, Avtar, Kevin, ‘Big Tone’ and many, many more supporters who were Albion through and through.
Supporters in this place don’t ask for the earth. Just players who work hard, in keeping with proud Black Country principles.
