Gareth McAuley: West Brom defender, 37, agrees new deal

West Brom centre-back Gareth McAuley has signed a new one-year extension to his current contract.

The 37-year-old, whose deal was set to expire in June, is WBA's joint leading scorer this season and is the oldest outfield player in the Premier League.

"It's very pleasing," said the Northern Ireland international.

"I'd like to thank the club, the gaffer [Tony Pulis] and everyone here who helps me to stay fit to be able to play at this level."

The Northern Ireland international, who did not make his professional debut until he had turned 24, has made 205 appearances since joining Albion from Ipswich in the summer of 2011.
