FA stand firm over their stance on confidentiality following revelation of Saido Berahino's failed drugs test

The toxic fall-out from Sportsmail’s revelation of Saido Berahino’s failed drugs test is not expected to give the Football Association cause to re-examine their stance on confidentiality.

FA regulations protect players who are banned for taking recreational drugs out of competition from having details made public, due to the desire for a private rehabilitation process.

That is set to remain the case despite the war of words, with Mark Hughes insisting information regarding Berahino’s ban was only given to Stoke by the striker’s agents, rather than by West Brom.

Sportsmail understands West Brom are adamant that all details surrounding the £12million move were handled correctly, and Stoke informed once a deal was agreed and Berahino had given his consent.
