Chelsea outcast Ross Barkley had the chance to join West Bromwich Albion on deadline day but his eye-watering salary doused any hopes of leaving Stamford Bridge, according to reports.
The former Everton star has been frozen out of Thomas Tuchel's squad and hasn't played a minute of Premier League action in any of the club's opening three games, and the midfielder is desperate for regular minutes.
Chelsea tried to sell Barkley to the Baggies earlier this month, as reported by the Telegraph - with the England international clearly not in Tuchel's plans - but the deal quickly fell apart when the Championship baulked at his £110,000-a-week wages.
