West Bromwich Albion made it three wins from four games to maintain their unbeaten start to the Championship season at Blackburn, whose second-half goal knocked the Baggies off the summit.
The platform was laid at the beginning and end of the first 45 minutes, thanks to a thumping first-minute left-foot volley by Alex Mowatt from the edge of the box into the top left corner, and Matt Phillips' tap-in late in the half.
Although Chile international Ben Brereton Diaz continued his own bright start to the campaign by pulling one back for Rovers in the second period following a mistake by England's Sam Johnstone in clearing his lines, it was a scoreline which flattered the hosts.
