Birmingham City edged past West Brom 1-0 at St Andrew's on Sunday to leave Steve Bruce's side facing a major uphill task to make the play-offs.
Both sides struggled to create opportunities in a quiet first half, but it was the hosts who found the breakthrough in the 67th minute. Lyle Taylor netted from the penalty spot after Conor Townsend was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the area.
West Brom were unable to find a response, and they remain eight points outside the top six with just six games left.
