Alan Pardew will make a decision on the West Brom captaincy this week and vowed he is the right man to stave off relegation.
Usual skipper Jonny Evans started in the defeat by Southampton on Saturday but Pardew took the armband off him after being identified as one of four players who broke a curfew and stole a taxi in Barcelona on Thursday.
Gareth McAuley deputised and Pardew is still mulling over what permanent action to take.
'I needed to make a statement over the events - I'm far from happy,' Pardew said.
