Ismaila Sarr went from hero to zero as Watford were held to a draw by West Brom in an early meeting between two of the Championship's promotion favourites.
The Senegalese international opened the scoring with a remarkable goal from inside his own half after just 12 minutes, but Karlan Grant equalised for the Baggies in first half stoppage time.
West Brom dominated proceedings throughout, but Watford always seemed capable of winning the game with Sarr in their side.
The Hornets forward was too quick for Semi Ajayi and won a penalty as the clock ticked into the final 20 minutes, but his tame effort from 12 yards was easily saved by David Button, who he had lobbed earlier.
