Watford will be happy with their 1-1 draw at Southampton on the opening day after being reduced to 10 men and coming under heavy pressure from an increasingly dominant home side.
After a bright start and a fine Etienne Capoue goal, the Hornets found it hard to carve out many chances of note, while Nathan Redmond will feel he should have won it for the Saints.
Positives
During an impressive first half performance, Watford played some lovely football and Capoue's goal was the culmination of a well-executed and pleasing attacking move. The second half saw the Hornets having to hold on and the way in which they saw the game through with 10 men following Ben Watson's dismissal will have pleased new coach Walter Mazzarri.
