Watford are in talks with Marseille over a deal to sell Pape Gueye before he has even played for the club.
Gueye, 21, agreed to join Watford as a free agent from Le Havre but changed his mind saying he had been badly advised.
Marseille have stepped in to solve the situation and will reach a compromise on compensation to Watford. Gueye's signing could be confirmed on Wednesday.
His pre-contract agreement with Watford was spectacularly shot down by his agent Pierre-Henri Bovis at the end of April.
