Watford have confirmed the appointment of former Valencia winger Xisco as their new boss.

The 40-year-old has stood down from his role in charge of Dinamo Tbilisi to replace the sacked Vladimir Ivic at Vicarage Road.

As Sportsmail revealed, Xisco was Watford's leading candidate to take over and entered talks with the Championship club just hours after Ivic's dismissal.

Ivic was axed on Saturday night amid tensions with captain Troy Deeney, who was dropped for the loss against Huddersfield.

Ivic said in his post-match press conference that the reason Deeney was not introduced off the bench was due to ‘disciplinary issues’.
