Watford 1-1 Crystal Palace: Troy Deeney's second half penalty rescues point for Hornets as Sam Allardyce fails to pick up first victory as Eagles boss

Troy Deeney ensured Watford picked up a point at Vicarage Road on Boxing Day after Yohan Cabaye put Crystal Palace ahead during the first half.

Watford endured a strange start to the match after both Daryl Janmaat and Valon Behrami were forced off within the first 14 minutes after picking up injuries. And in the 25th minute Crystal Palace went ahead after firing the ball low into the bottom left corner just inside the penalty area.

Palace could have doubled their lead later on in the first half but Christian Benteke saw his tame penalty saved by Heurelho Gomes and the score remained 1-0 going into the break.
