The Premier League will soon release a statement announcing the cancellation of the 2019-20 season, according to Udinese director Pieropaolo Marino.
The Serie A chief, whose club share owners with Watford, revealed the shock news on Tuesday night amid the ongoing worldwide coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking on Sportitalia, he said the English top flight is set to follow in the footsteps of Belgium's Jupiler League, who last week confirmed they would not resume the current season when football returns and had crowned Club Brugge champions.
'The Belgian Federation has already sanctioned the end of their league, despite the threats of sanctions from UEFA,' Marino said.
