Jean Philippe Gbamin has suffered another devastating setback with an injury that is likely to mean he does not play again for the rest of 2020.
The Ivory Coast international cost £25million when he arrived at Goodison Park last summer but he has endured a luckless first year at the club; his issues revolved around two separate tears to his quad muscles that required surgery.
He has only made two Premier League appearances, the last of which came against Watford on August 17 last year.
Gbamin had thrilled Everton’s medical staff with his attitude towards recovery during the lockdown and his aim was to return to full training in three weeks; Carlo Ancelotti, Everton’s manager, had indicated he would feature in some of the remaining nine matches of the campaign.
