Ben Watson will sign a two-and-a-half-year contract with Nottingham Forest on Monday.
The 32-year-old terminated his contract with Watford on deadline day to become a free agent and underwent the first part of a medical with Forest on Friday evening.
Aitor Karanka has been ruthless in his appraisal of Nottingham Forest's squad since his appointment and Watson will be his eighth new signing in five days.
Karanka brought in Costel Pantilimon, Jack Colback, Adlene Guediora, Joe Lolley, Lee Tomlin, Ashkan Dejagah and Tobias Figueiredo on deadline day.
