Premier League and Championship clubs are at loggerheads over the dates for this summer's transfer window.
The European transfer window is due to close on August 31, but the Premier League clubs want to keep the domestic window open for a further week as they did in response to the pandemic last year, when deals between top-flight and EFL clubs were permitted for 11 days after the main window closed on October 5.
Championship clubs rejected this proposal at a meeting this week, however, on the grounds that it would make them vulnerable to being raided for players by Premier League clubs unable to secure their primary targets from abroad.
