As expected the Washington Mystics have re-signed Tina Charles for the 2021 WNBA season. Charles early on expressed interest in remaining with the Mystics despite opting out of the 2020 WNBA season. She was granted medical exemption.
Charles was acquired via a three-team deal. The trade involved the New York Liberty and the Dallas Wings. Washington received Charles and in return the Liberty received all the Mystics’ draft picks for this season. Dallas received Shatori Walker-Kimbrough and the previously given Mystics first round pick to New York.
General Manager and Head Coach Mike Thibault and Charles are familiar with one another from their Connecticut Sun days.
