The Washington Mystics are off and running in WNBA Free Agency. On Friday afternoon, the team announced that they re-signed Jacki Gemelos, Alecia “Sug” Sutton and Stella Johnson.
While the moves were announced as signings, the players likely accepted reserved qualifying offers extended by the Mystics because the players are all reserved free agents. Gemelos, Johnson and Sutton are now on one-year, minimum salary training camp contracts that will not count against the salary cap unless the player makes the team.
All three players were reserved due to having three or fewer years of service and could only negotiate with the Mystics.
