The Washington Mystics selected Louisville forward Sam Fuehring with the 34th pick in the 2019 WNBA Draft. Fuehring averaged 10.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per game for the Cardinals, who advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament this season.
On a team where now-Liberty guard Asia Durr dominated the scoring column, someone had to help make things easier for her on the rebounding end and in the low post. That player was Fuehring, who led the Cardinals in rebounding last season and progressively improved her production in each of her four college seasons. She has also shown more of a willingness to shoot the ball from the perimeter which will help the Mystics remain as one of the top three-point shooting teams in the WNBA.
