The Washington Wizards got torched by the defending champion Boston Celtics on opening night in Capital One Arena in a 122-102 loss. After a solid first 20 minutes, Washington’s dam broke and the Celtics started attacking the basket at will. Boston went on a 50-20 run from the 3:50 mark of the second quarter to the beginning of the 4th quarter to put Washington away. Jaylen Brown led all scorers with 27 points to go along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals. Jordan Poole had a nice outing with 26 points on 17 shots including six threes.
Unfortunately, he was the only Wizard to hit a three-point shot until garbage time.
