The Washington Wizards signed former Indiana Pacers center Ian Mahinmi to a four-year, $64 million deal this off-season to replace the oft-injured Nene.
Mahinmi, a top-10 defender last season, was supposed to help the Wizards regain their elite defensive identity.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the Wizards will be able to get much help from the center anytime soon.
On Saturday morning, the team announced that Mahinmi underwent knee surgery and will miss approximately four to six weeks of action.
Ian Mahinmi has suffered a partially torn medial meniscus in his left knee.
