For the first time since 2002, the Washington Wizards are looking for a new team president. While Ted Leonsis says there’s currently no list of favorites or front runners, it’s only a matter of time until there’s someone new in Grunfeld’s vacated seat. Even if that someone ends up being interim GM and senior vice president Tommy Sheppard.
While Sheppard himself is an interesting and fully capable candidate, a promotion from within might not be the best move for the Wizards. Many have given Sheppard a vote of confidence in his new role and he’s been considered for GM jobs elsewhere.
