The Washington Wizards went into draft night with just one pick: the ninth pick in the first round. But they weren’t done drafting once the lottery was over. Tommy Sheppard and company traded into the second round and took Tennessee’s Admiral Schofield.
Given the most recent move of Tommy Sheppard’s tenure as interim general manager (a trade with the Los Angeles Lakers that netted Mo Wagner, Isaac Bonga, and Jemerrio Jones and a 2022 second-round pick) the Wizards might be putting more emphasis on late draft picks. Which could mean the Wizards have big plans for Schofield in his rookie season.
