On Tuesday, the WNBA announced that Washington Mystics center Tina Charles was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played in Week 4 of the 2021 regular season.
In three games, Charles averaged 21.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game to lead Washington to a 2-1 record last week. The Mystics have a 4-6 record and are 10th in the league standings.
The Mystics have not played well this season. They have faced significant setbacks with injuries due to Alysha Clark suffering a season-ending foot injury before training camp and Elena Delle Donne has still yet to return after suffering a back injury in the 2019 WNBA Finals.
