On Thursday, the Atlanta Dream announced that they will host the Washington Mystics in a preseason game on Friday, May 17 in Albany, Ga. This will be the first preseason game for the Dream for 2019 as well as their first preseason game outside of the Atlanta area.
The Mystics and Dream have a long postseason history against each other. Atlanta defeated Washington in the first round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs in 2010 and 2013. The Mystics won a WNBA semifinals series against them in 2018 that went to a deciding fifth game. WNBA teams in the Eastern Conference aren’t known for having big rivalries, but the Mystics and Dream could have one in the making.
