On Tuesday, I wrote that the Washington Wizards haven’t had a true rival throughout franchise history. The stars weren’t aligned right for a single team to be “arch enemy number one.”
Today, I’ll write about the Washington Mystics and their rivals. Historically, they have been irrelevant on the WNBA scene. They were better known for their mishaps with the draft lottery and front office decisions that led to periods of bad basketball that was honestly worse than the Wizards at their lowest moments.
But since 2013, the Mystics have gradually turned around into a perennial championship contender and are now the defending WNBA champions.
