Washington Mystics center, Shakira Austin, had a successful surgery to repair a torn labrum in her hip. This past season, Austin sustained a hip strain injury in the June 25 game against the New York Liberty where she had to be carried off the court.

The initial timeline for her absence was at least three weeks but she was out for two months and returned to play in August on limited minutes. However in a game playing the Las Vegas Aces, she re-injured her hip and eventually missed the postseason where the Mystics lost 2-0 in the playoffs to the New York Liberty.
