On Monday, the Washington Wizards announced that Rui Hachimura and Troy Brown had their rookie scale contract options extended for one more year. For Hachimura, he is getting a third year. And for Brown, it is his fourth.
This news is not unexpected. Both Hachimura and Brown were first round draft picks by Washington. NBA first round draft picks get two-year rookie scale contracts, with options to extend them for up to two more years. Since both players have been playing significant roles for Washington, it would be news to see one of them NOT get the extension.
