Behind their veteran backcourt of Scott Machado and Orlando Johnson, the Washington Wizards survived and advanced in the NBA Las Vegas Summer League tournament on Wednesday, beating the Utah Jazz 86-78 in their first elimination game.
Much like their matchup with the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday, the Wizards maintained a big lead throughout much of the game – but, alas, even the Summer League squad not immune to Washington Wizardry, and they nearly gave the lead away before pulling through with the victory.
And with Kelly Oubre struggling offensively and center Jarrid Famous turning in his first ineffective performance of the Summer League, DC got their points from some unlikely sources.
