Mystics vs. Sky final score: Washington blown out 70-56 in season opener

The Washington Mystics lost to a Chicago Sky 70-56 on Saturday afternoon. While the Sky did not shoot particularly well (36.7 percent overall), the Mystics were much worse, shooting just 25 percent overall and 13.3 percent from the three-point line.

How did things get bad? A 24 to 11 run by the Sky in the second quarter was the Achilles heel here. While the Sky shot just 33.3 percent (which is a good thing for the Mystics’ hopes of being a defensive stalwart), they shot a woeful 1-of-18 from the field with Tina Charles making the only field goal of the period.
