Continuing their regular season dominance, the Mystics beat overall-#1 seed New York Liberty at Madison Square Garden in game 1 of the WNBA playoffs. As Albert predicted, the Mystics' depth was one of their greatest assets, amplified by the fact that the game went into double overtime. While the Liberty relied on Tina Charles, Epiphanny Prince and Tanisha Wright to play over 40 minutes each, no one on the Mystics played more than 36.
Theme of the game: Balance vs. superstars.
The Liberty were lead by former MVP Tina Charles and two-time All-Star Epiphanny Prince, who combined for 48 of the team’s 83 points.
