On Thursday, the Washington Mystics announced that their game against the Indiana Fever on June 7 will be played at Capital One Arena instead of the Entertainment and Sports Arena in Congress Heights. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m. ET and the game will be televised on ION (WPXW-TV in the DMV).
Though Monumental Sports won’t say it out loud, I will. The first pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Fever guard Caitlin Clark will play for the first time in D.C. as a pro this year. I’d expect the crowd to be made up of mostly Clark and Iowa Hawkeyes fans when the Mystics play against them, even though Washington isn’t that far removed from winning the 2019 WNBA championship.
