The Washington Mystics fell to the Las Vegas Aces Sunday afternoon, 89-77.
It’s been a story of two seasons for both of these teams so far this year. Heading into the game, Washington had played above-.500 ball since a disastrous 0-12 start. Likewise, the Aces had only lost one game since a 6-6 start. Though the two teams are in incredibly different places — the Mystics are pseudo-rebuiling while the Aces are the two-time defending champions — both have turned around tough starts to their respective seasons.
Mystics led by double digits in the first quarter, continuing a trend where they hang with some of the league’s better teams (or perhaps they’re secretly a good team hampered by a ludicrous 0-12 start).
