Washington Wizards backup center Ian Mahinmi will not play in Monday night’s game against the Sacramento Kings because of right knee soreness.
Mahinmi had surgery Oct. 15 to repair a partially torn medial meniscus in his left knee. He made his season debut Saturday night against the San Antonio Spurs. Mahinmi played 14 minutes in the game, then declared himself rusty afterward, but also said he felt fine.
Before Monday night’s game, Wizards coach Scott Brooks said Mahinmi would be inactive against the Kings because of knee soreness he has felt since playing Saturday. Brooks stressed that the decision was made with caution and that Mahinmi could play later this week.
