Kara Lawson, a former Washington Mystics point guard and television analyst for the Wizards, has joined the Boston Celtics as an assistant coach, ESPN reported.
An Alexandria, Virginia, native, Lawson was serving as a Wizards analyst for NBC Sports Washington as well as a commentator for ESPN’s WNBA coverage.
In her playing days, Lawson won a WNBA title with the Sacramento Monarchs in 2005 and an Olympic gold medal with Team USA in the 2008 Games in Beijing.
Lawson, 38, is the latest in a line of women being hired to NBA coaching staffs.
