On Thursday, numerous former NBA players were indicted in New York State federal court for taking part in a health insurance fraud scheme involving the NBA Players’ Health and Welfare Benefit Plan.
According to Jonathan Dienst, Tom Winter and Courtney Copenhagen of WNBC-TV, the alleged scheme from 2017-20 that involved 18 former NBA players, led by Terrence Williams, the 11th pick of the 2009 NBA Draft who played for the then-New Jersey Nets and Houston Rockets in his career. Other notable former players include Ronald Davis, a/k/a Glen “Big Baby” Davis, Tony Allen, Sebastian Telfair and Darius Miles.
