The Washington Wizards are on the lookout for veteran backcourt depth before next week's NBA trade deadline, and they may have settled on a target.
The Wizards and Miami Heat have both explored trade discussions with the Denver Nuggets centering on guard Jameer Nelson, sources indicated to Real GM.
Per the Real GM report, "no deal is imminent, and Nelson has grown comfortable with his situation in Denver. The veteran point guard is currently dealing with an Achilles injury and hopes to return to the lineup after the NBA All-Star break."
The Cleveland Cavs reportedly had trade interest in Nelson when the Boston Celtics were dangling him in trade scenarios, but haven't shown interest since. Therefore, if Nelson is actually traded, it's possible that it will come down to the Wizards and Heat for his services.
Nelson originally began the season with the Dallas Mavericks, but was shipped to Boston in the Rajon Rondo deal before being ultimately flipped to Denver.
