The Washington Wizards' 2015 NBA Playoffs run ended on a Paul Pierce game-tying buzzer beater that wasn't, and the slow-motion replay that ripped the hearts out of Wizards fans and players alike took its toll on the veteran star.
"Truthfully, what was going through my mind is, I don't have too much of these efforts left, if any," he told the Washington Post, via CBS Sports. "These rides throughout the NBA season, throughout the playoffs, are very emotional. They take a lot out of not only your body, but your mind, your spirit."
Pierce seems to have plenty left to give from an in-game standpoint after averaging 14.6 points in 30 minutes per game in the postseason. Add in a bevy of clutch shots, and "The Truth" is still alive and well athletically.
However, the grind of the NBA season and postseason is starting to take its toll on him, which makes this upcoming offseason an intriguing one for a generational talent in the twilight of his career.
