John Wall is having a sensational year for the Washington Wizards, and it looks like the All-Star voters have taken notice.
Wall is currently 1st out of all Eastern Conference guards with 439,395 total votes, trailing only LeBron James among all Eastern Conference players. Wall has the sixth-highest vote total overall, trailing James, Stephen Curry (GS), Anthony Davis (NO), Kobe Bryant (LAL), and James Harden (HOU). The voting results are current as of January 1, with this being the second time updated results have been made available since ballots were released.
Wall is averaging 17.4 points and 10.3 assists per game, with his assists total currently leading all NBA players. Wall is also turning heads on the defensive side of the court - his 2.1 steals per game put him 3rd out of all players, and he's bringing down 4.6 rebounds per contest, a comparatively high number for a starting point guard. Wall's backcourt running mate Bradley Beal is 10th out of Eastern Conference guards, and while he likely won't be voted in as a starter, Beal has a real shot at being named among the East's substitutes. Marcin Gortat is 7th out of Eastern Conference frontcourt players, with Paul Pierce coming in 12th.
Wall's Wizards currently sit 3rd in the Eastern Conference at 22-9, trailing the Toronto Raptors by 1.5 games for the top seed. The team went 12-4 in the month of December, with Wall averaging 11.5 assists per game and shooting a season-best .495 from the field.
